John Durbin joined FC Cincinnati as Chief Commercial Officer in August of 2022. In his role, he oversees Marketing, Revenue, and Business Intelligence for the organization. Prior to joining FCC, Durbin served as SVP of Marketing and Business Strategy at Pegula Sports & Entertainment, the management company for the Buffalo Sabres, Bills and additional Pegula-owned properties. In his eight years in Buffalo, he served in a variety of roles including oversight of Marketing, Ticketing and Community Relations as well as working on long-term strategic goal setting. Durbin began his career as a media buyer and planner for Starcom Media in Chicago where he worked on such clients as the US Army, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Kellogg’s Kids brands. He then moved into a creative role with the Publicis-owned Denuo; a consulting agency that specialized in the white spaces of marketing. In his time there he worked on projects around gamification, social, mobile, gaming, and loyalty/rewards programs among other emerging trends. Prior to moving to Buffalo, he obtained his MBA from the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Boston College.
