Speaker Bio

Jonathan Michaels serves as SVP Strategic Development and Government Affairs for Sightline overseeing new market development and regulatory affairs. In this role, he works collaboratively across the gaming industry with clients, partners, and key stakeholders to drive innovation around cashless gaming solutions. 

As part of those efforts, Jonathan oversees Sightline’s engagement on responsible gaming efforts driving partnerships and solutions to help consumers. Jonathan also leads Sightline’s public relations initiatives and is frequently a spokesperson surrounding emerging trends in gaming including sports betting, iGaming, cashless wagering, cryptocurrency, and responsible gaming among others.

Prior to joining Sightline, Jonathan spent more than 6 years at the American Gaming Association most recently serving as their Vice President, Strategic Alliances. During his tenure, he drove AGA’s efforts to grow its membership to better reflect the changing landscape of the gaming industry to include Tribal gaming operators, sports betting companies, regional casino operators, diversified gaming suppliers, and payments companies. Jonathan also led several of AGA’s key initiatives including payments modernization and sports betting including creation of the AGA Sports Betting Executive Summit. 

He also previously served as the Director of Membership and Business Development for the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) where he doubled overall resources for the association and created signature events including the SFIA Industry Leaders Summit. 

Jonathan earned bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in Government & Politics and Criminology & Criminal Justice and remains an avid Terps fan. As an alumnus, he served on the Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund Board of Directors and assisted in fundraising activities for the University as Assistant Director, Leadership Annual Giving.
