Dr. Bill McGuire completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston after finishing his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas. As Chairman and CEO of United Health Group, he grew the health care company from $400 million in annual revenue to more than $70 billion. Committed to the community, his philanthropic efforts include donations to the University of Florida, the Guthrie Theater, the Walker Art Center and Gold Medal Park.
Dr. McGuire took ownership of Minnesota United FC in January 2013. Under his leadership, Minnesota United has grown into an internationally recognized team and brand. In March of 2015 Minnesota United was awarded a Major League Soccer expansion franchise, set to begin play in 2017 at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium.
Dr. McGuire has spearheaded plans to build a 100% privately financed soccer specific stadium in the Snelling-Midway neighborhood of St. Paul. Since taking over the club, Dr. McGuire has been instrumental in achieving unprecedented success and growth for soccer at all levels in Minnesota.
