SVP, Chief Revenue Officer
Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx
Ryan Tanke is entering his fourth season as Chief Revenue Officer for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx and his 18th season with the organization. Tanke previously served as Senior Vice President of Ticket Sales and Premium Seating and Vice President of Ticket Sales and Premium Seating.
In his current role, Tanke is responsible for the organization’s sales and service areas including oversight of Timberwolves and Lynx ticket sales, corporate partnerships, premium seating, business intelligence, fan experience and youth basketball initiatives. Tanke’s leadership team and departments are focused on providing an experience that creates lasting memories for fans and delivers great value to corporate partners. Under his leadership, the fan experience continues to improve through a newly developed partnership with Twin Cities chef David Fhima to revamp the Target Center food offerings with a focus on clean ingredients as the arena undergoes renovations, and through the creation of the 1 program, a service program in partnership with Disney that focuses on creating extraordinary memories for every guest.
In March 2011, Tanke was selected as one of Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s 40 under 40, a list which honors young, successful professionals in the Twin Cities. Tanke has also been a featured speaker on a number of industry topics, most recently at the IEG Sponsorship Conference on the game changing strategic partnership with Mayo Clinic and development of the new training facility, The Courts at Mayo Clinic Square. With the Target Center renovation, Tanke has led the development of new and expanded premium seating products including the Chairman’s Suites and Theater Boxes, the Theater Boxes being a first-to-market product in the Twin Cities. He has also played a key role in naming rights deals for the entire premium level as the Treasure Island Resort & Casino Premium Level and the long-term extension of Target’s arena naming rights, and he continues to develop opportunities to create new partner branded spaces at Target Center to enhance fan experience. Tanke has been a driving force behind creating these unique products as the Timberwolves and Lynx strive to differentiate themselves in a competitive market.
Tanke started as an intern with the organization in 1997. He has also held the positions of Ticket Sales Executive, Community Basketball Manager, Manager of Inside Sales and Corporate Sales Manager. Additionally, he spent time as the Director of Sales and Service for the NFL’s San Diego Chargers.
Tanke earned a business management degree from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota. He serves on the board of Twin Cities Boys and Girls Club, actively supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Cities and participates in many of the Timberwolves and Lynx FastBreak Foundation volunteer projects and initiatives. A La Crosse, Wisconsin native, Tanke currently resides in Minnetrista with his wife, Lindsey, their daughter, Charli and son, Tristan.
