Below are the speakers for the 2017 National Sports Forum.

Glen Taylor

Glen Taylor is chairman of Mankato, Minn. based Taylor Corporation, a multinational conglomerate of marketing, communications and interactive solutions companies. The Taylor Corp. family of companies empower businesses to build memorable brands and operate effectively and efficiently.
 
Mr. Taylor started his career with Carlson Wedding Service, a print shop specializing in formal invitations, while attending college. He later purchased the business, assembled a passionate leadership team and dramatically expanded the firm’s capabilities through acquisitions and start-ups, bringing its spirit of ingenuity across markets and international borders.
 
Since purchasing the company in 1975, Mr. Taylor has grown the organization into one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, with more than 75 subsidiaries and 10,000 employees. Under his vision and leadership, Taylor Corp. has emerged as one of the top 10 graphics communications companies in North America, providing services to more than half of the FORTUNE 500 companies and millions of small businesses and consumers around the world.
 
Mr. Taylor has received extensive recognition for his contributions to Minnesota business communities, including Mankato Area Distinguished Service Award, Mankato State University Distinguished Alumni Award, Outstanding Jaycee Minnesota Chapter President and Laureate of the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame, among many other accolades.
 
Committed to improving the greater Minnesota civic and business communities, Mr. Taylor has also served as president of the YMCA; director of the Mankato Chamber of Commerce, United Way campaign chairman; director of the Greater Minnesota Corporation and the Minnesota Business Partnership; and served on the Minnesota State University Foundation Board of Directors, among others.
 
Beyond his leadership of Taylor Corp., Mr. Taylor served as a Minnesota State Senator from 1980 until 1990, including serving as the Minority Leader of the Senate from 1984 to 1986, where he provided leadership in the areas of higher education, child care and economic development policies. In 1994, Mr. Taylor purchased the Minnesota Timberwolves and in 1999, added the WNBA Minnesota Lynx to the growing list of Minnesota sports teams. In 2000, Mr. Taylor invested in leading agribusiness and food company Rembrandt Enterprises, now one of the largest egg producers in the U.S. In 2004, Mr. Taylor became an investor in full service broker dealer Northland Capital Holdings, Inc, and is also an investor in Envoy Medical, an implantable hearing therapy company. In July of 2014 Mr. Taylor finalized his purchase of the Star Tribune newspaper, Minnesota’s largest news organization so that once again they would be owned outright by a Minnesotan.
 
Mr. Taylor attended Harvard Graduate School of Business and earned his B.S at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is one of only three people to receive a Minnesota State University honorary doctorate degree.
 
Mr. Taylor and his wife, Becky, have nine children and live in Mankato.
